This has been one of the most satisfying projects we have done. It also made a huge difference in the overall feeling as soon as you enter our home. Who knew little spaces could say so much! I loved working on this project because it was so simple. Here is where you will find a complete breakdown as well things we would of done differently. It was pretty obvious that this space needed some love. There had been an old CPI panel secured in there that hadn’t been used in years, plus there were no keys to be found to remove the box. Thankfully I have a husband who doesn’t mind breaking into things for me and she managed to remove it from the wall along with the insecure shelving! We wanted a pretty accent wall, but also one that would be very simple to install. We decided on bead board from Home Depot because you can get a sheet of this for cheap. Our space is about 3 ft wide and 8 ft tall so we didn’t need much. I also made the executive decision to not remove my baseboard (which I know some people would not approve of)
I can remember the first time that I tasted this delicious treat back when I was younger with my mom. I have always been thankful for great taste in food because it has led me to some of the very best things. They have a surprising chewy center that just melts in your mouth. I have always been scared to try these because of its exactness, but today felt like the perfect day to get after it. And let me tell you they were amazing! I am certainly guilty when it comes to just taking a glimpse at the directions, but I promise this is something you will want to be sure to do. There are some important tips for making the perfect macarons, so make sure to read them over. Weigh Ingredients – This is one of the most important rules when making macarons. I use a small food scale to weigh all the ingredients in grams to be sure they are precise. Mine is a Ozeri Food Scale that you can get from Amazon. Age your egg whites – This is the reason behind the texture of true macaron. You can do this the night before by putting the egg
This recipe is my go to waffle recipe because all waffles should be made from scratch! The special touch of Belgian pearl sugar will leave you wanting to eat these instantly as they come off the waffle iron. I don’t think we can make them fast enough to keep up with the family eating them. The pearl sugar is amazing because it carmelizes when baking to create crunchy pockets of sweetness. My favorite brand to use is Lar’s Own Belgium Pearl Sugar. I buy it off of Amazon and it is so nice because you can get two 8 oz packages which means double the amount of times you can make these waffles. Make sure to click the link and check them out! If you are wanting to add a little extra to make these waffles a real fan favorite, we love to add strawberries and cream to them. It is super simple! All you need to do it cut up a package of strawberries and sprinkle some sugar over them to coat. Then you whip up some heavy cream with an electric mixer adding in a small amount of sugar until it reaches your desired sweetness just after the
Hands down my favorite two desserts are cinnamon rolls and cookies… so why not put them together, right?? These cookies were fun and simple, plus I could hardly snap a few pictures of them before they disappeared from the plate. Cream cheese frosting is probably my favorite because of how creamy the texture is and it has just the right flavor. It really added that extra touch to getting the perfect cinnamon roll in a cookie. One thing that is really important is “Why chill the dough?” There have been a lot of people who think this is unnecessary and others who don’t make a cookie without it. My preference is that is depends on the cookie you are baking, but the reason for chilling the dough is because it stops the cookies from spreading. So you know when you get a cookie that looks like it just melted all over the pan?? That is because the dough was too warm. A few minutes to chill would plump those right up. I can’t wait to hear what you all think of these delicious cookies! IngredientsCookies1 cup unsalted butter (softened)1 cup sugar2 eggs1 Tbsp. vanilla3 cups flour3 tsp. baking powder2 tsp.
This has always seemed to be a classic at my house. I always love a quick and delicious dinner, and this recipe is just that. The chicken is incredibly simple all because of this amazing called Tone’s Rosemary Garlic seasoning. We usually order it from Amazon, but go through it so quickly. It has incredible flavor and is all you need on the chicken to make it mouth watering. It will look like you have spent hours on it because of how good it looks and taste, but the recipe is simple and quick. My mom has been making these mashed potatoes since I can remember. Sometimes I have to stop her and ask her process because she never uses a recipe. I wish we could all have that perfect sense to know what ingredient to add to make something perfect because I am convinced that my mother does, but I finally got her to slow it down so I could share this awesome recipe with all of you. Potatoes can be tricky at times and I know I have had my fair share of struggles, but here are a few tips to get them just perfect. Keep the skin
I am not going to lie.. I am not the biggest fan when it comes to cake. It has never been my choice of dessert, and I even struggled to have one when we got married. Then I came across this most delicious, moist, amazing recipe that if I didn’t share would be a disservice. You need to add this to your collection because it will become a go to recipe for any event or just because you feel like eating some delicious chocolate cupcakes. I have tried so many different recipes, yet was never been able to find one to convert me. Then I found it! This was it! You can stop looking any further because this recipe will blow all others out of the water. It is officially the BEST chocolate cupcake recipe I have ever tasted. My favorite part of baking anything is the batter and this tasted like literal chocolate mousse and the final product reflected exactly that. Why would this be so much better than others? Well, it has some ingredients that will surprise you.. for example sour cream and real melted chocolate?? The sour cream thickens the batter that you can just scoop them
Are you planning on buying a home for the very first time? This is a scary and exciting thing to do because you are finally getting a place that can be your very own. No more crazy rentals (because I know we have all lived in some ridiculous ones at times) or living under your parents roof. This is probably one of the biggest financial moves anyone can take, but I promise it is all going to be worth it. This was quite the process for us especially because we never were able to fly out and see our house before buying it (we are moving across the country). We had to do everything remotely and I was so thankful for a great realtor that was thorough and a great communicator. So before you jump into this, take a look at these 10 tips for anyone buying their first home. 1. Save for the down payment As soon as you start considering purchasing your own home, start saving! This is huge because what holds many individuals back from buying a home is the initial upfront costs. The sooner you start saving, the sooner you can be putting your money into
Getting married at a what many may think is a young age has really meant that I get to spend time with my best friend for that much longer. At times I am convinced I married someone who was exactly like me, yet he also challenged me in ways I didn’t know I needed. We do probably EVERYTHING together because we have all of the same hobbies. Don’t get me wrong, I love every minute that we were together but I knew it was important for me to find a hobby that could be just mine and help me grow. This was probably the most useful advice I got from older and more experience married couples. It isn’t a bad thing to be together all the time, but it can strengthen your marriage to have personal hobbies. This is healthy and enriching because as you grow as an individual then your marriage will grow too. I wish I could explain just how difficult it has been to find what that one thing is that I love to do and I can do for just myself. I always find myself tied up in DIY projects and home renovation especially after purchasing
